Reaching the World
Here's Liz In Here Own Words...
Since 2012, I have spent several summers volunteering with Santisuk English School (SES) in Bangkok, Thailand. In the past, I have taught English and played flute with the worship team at their church, Peace Fellowship Church, that meets at the school.
Thailand is a country in South East Asia that is a little larger than the size of California. The current population of Thailand is a little over 68 million, of which roughly 95% are Buddhist. Even though persecution against Christians is rare, less than 1.5% of the population is Christian.
This year I will be going back to rewrite the Basic English Curriculum and train the teachers who will be teaching it. One of the major objectives of the curriculum project is to create a curriculum that equips students to participate in the regular courses offered by SES, as there is a growing number of incoming students whose English proficiency is very low. Another major objective is to incorporate Biblical components into the curriculum similar to their primary curriculum, which is more advanced. For many students, reading portions of the Bible in class is the first time in their lives that they have ever heard of Jesus or the Bible. The curriculum is being rewritten in order to meet these two objectives as the current curriculum is not accomplishing either of them. The hope is that the new curriculum and the training that the teachers will be given will make a sustainable impact on the school and the community.
While I am the project leader, I will also be working closely with the church board, school staff, other teachers and my former professor, Dr. Livingston. As a team, we hope to produce a curriculum that will be an effective tool in the ministry Santisuk English School and Peace Fellowship Church are doing in Bangkok.
I will also continue to work with the small group that was started in Silom, Bangkok when I was there two years ago. I am scheduled to be there for 12 months starting in July, but I will stay longer if necessary to complete the project.
As this is a volunteer position, I am raising support to cover my living and travel costs. The school will be helping me with a portion of the costs but it is my goal to raise at least 70% of my support before I leave. My expenses add up to about $1,500/mo. with the price of my travel expenses to Thailand included into that total. Please feel free to either send a one-time donation or sign up to support me monthly (details on this will follow in an email)!
Even more than financial donations, I would appreciate your support in prayer. This will be the longest that I have spent overseas and this project is larger than any I have worked on in the past. I would ask that you would pray that God would fill me with the strength and patience to work on this project, to minister to the people around me, and to grasp the Thai language quickly. Please feel free to email me if you would like more info about what I will be doing! Thank you all!

Other Missions We Support
At Impact Church we believe God has called us to reach beyond the walls of our church and beyond the borders of our city and nation. The place that we are currently engaging with both the gospel and loving support is the nation of Uganda. We have recently learned that 60% of the world's infant mortality occurs in Sub-Saharan Africa (the region where Uganda is located). With that in mind, our target people group is children. Our means of engagement is child sponsorship through Compassion International, and support of New Hope Uganda Orphanage.
